Most accused can reasonably expect access to a lawyer, but not in N.S.W. it seems. The term “Kangaroo Court” springs to mind. Such a court can be defined as a sham legal process with a predetermined outcome. The origin of the term is unknown but perhaps it is fitting that current legislation, explained here by Mr. Stephen Milgate, Executive Director, Australian Doctor’s Fund, is the creation of the Parliament of New South Wales, where Kangaroos abound.
